Within the project “Partnership, Advocacy and Communication for Effective Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities”, the Macedonian Institute for Media in partnership with the National Council of Disability Organizations in Macedonia, and supported by Civica Mobilitas, runs a campaign under the motto “We are the Same”. The goal of the campaign is to contribute to raising public awareness regarding the possibilities and the rights of persons with disabilities.
The short video stories produced within the campaign are aimed towards breaking the misperceptions and stereotypes about persons with disabilities that they cannot work, play sports, drive a car, run a business, etc. The stories of “We are the Same” convey segments of persons with disabilities in real life, which is full of responsibilities and activities, just like in the life of any other person who does not face a particular disability.
The Republic Centre – PORAKA, as a member of NCDOM, took part in the campaign “We are the Same”, and one of the five short video stories is aimed against prejudices towards persons with intellectual disabilities and conveys the positive story for employing a member of the Republic Centre – PORAKA in Ramstore Mall. The key message of the video is that we all face the same barriers in everyday life, we strive for the same goals, we want the same things, we face similar problems and challenges, and we all deserve equal opportunities.
