Activities of the local organisations of the Republic Centre – PORAKA for the observance of 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

PORAKA Radovis  observed 3 December with numerous activities. On 21.11.2022 two different creative workshops were realised at the Day Centre of the Republic Centre – PORAKA in Radovis. The first one was aimed at introducing the ways of providing first aid, and during the second one, the users of the Day Centre created handicrafts from clay. On 29.11.2022 the users of the Day Centre visited the Primary School “Nikola Karev” and together with the pupils took part in a creative workshop for making New Year’s cards. The main event for observing 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities was held on 2.12.2022 at the premises of the Day Centre. During the event, a video was promoted, in which couple of users of the Day Centre that participated in various activities of the Red Cross in Radovis took part. Also, the users of the Day Centre together with pupils from the Secondary School “Kosta Susinov” performed two traditional Radovis children’s games. As a token of appreciation, PORAKA Radovis gave Acknowledgements to institutions and persons that have supported the work of the Day Centre in the past year.

PORAKA Kavadarci realized several activities within the observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Representatives of PORAKA Kavadarci met the Mayor of Municipality of Kavadarci and discussed the needs and problems that persons with intellectual disability and their families face on local level. A creative workshop was realized with the members of PORAKA Kavadarci at the premises of the organization. Also, the members of the organization had an informative meeting with representatives of the Centre for Social Work, in which they had the opportunity to be informed about the recent legal changes and the anti-crisis measures that include persons with intellectual disability and their families. Sports and recreational activities were organized at the Sport Hall “Partizan” where persons with intellectual disabilities, members of PORAKA Kavadarci, played basketball, football, and other sports and recreational activities.

PORAKA Skopje also realized a number of activities. During the period from 28.11.2022 to 05.12.20022, exhibitions were set, and workshops and open classes were held in cooperation with the municipal primary schools “Kiri Gligorov” in Municipality of Centar, “Dimitar Pop Berovski” in Municipality of Gjorce Petrov and “Gjorgjija Pulevski” and “Ljuben Lape” in Municipality of Aerodrom. In cooperation with the Secondary School “Zdravko Cvetkovski, sports activities were held. Also, informational material has been distributed at the offices of Municipality of Aerodrom and at the Tinex markets. In cooperation with the Macedonian National Theatre, on 02.12.2022, the users of the Day Centres of the Republic Centre – PORAKA in Skopje had the possibility to see the play “The Lie”. On 10.12.2022, there was an exhibition of installations, photography, labyrinth sensitive performance and an Ambiental music concert titled “Wonders in Alice”. Users of the Day Centres took part together with pupils with typical and atypical development from schools in the Municipality of Gjorce Petrov.

PORAKA Stip observed 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in cooperation with different stakeholders in Municipality of Stip. On 22.11.2022, the patronage nurses from the health Centre in Stip made medical check-ups of the users at the Day Centre of the Republic Centre – PORAKA in Stip. On 28.11.2022, in cooperation with the University Library in Stip, a creative workshop was organized for the users of the Day Centre and pupils from the Primary School “Goce Delcev”. On 29.11.2022, in cooperation with the Secondary School “Kole Nehtenin”, a culinary workshop was held. On 30.11.2022, PORAKA Stip in cooperation with the Centre for Social Work held an informative meeting regarding the legal possibilities aimed for persons with intellectual disability and their families. On 2.12.2022, representatives from PORAKA Stip had a meeting with the Mayor of Municipality of Stip and discussed the current needs and issues faced by persons with disability and their families on local level. Members of PORAKA Stip visited the State Secondary School for Education and Rehabilitation of children with intellectual disability “Iskra”. The users of the Day Centre, together with the Fitness Centre Bfit and the kindergarten Kamp had a possibility to spend a day outside in nature and to learn more about the environment. On 7.12.2022, PORAKA Stip, in cooperation with the University Library in Stip and the Home of Culture “Zletovski Rudar” from Probistip, set an exhibition of the works in Arabic technique made by Verce Andonova, member of PORAKA Stip. The exhibition was followed by a creative workshop, in which the users of the Day Centre of the Republic Centre – PORAKA in Stip and pupils from the Primary School “Braka Miladinovci” from Probistip took part. On 8.12.2022, PORAKA Stip promoted a short video material titled “We are sending a great MESSAGE” on social media.

PORAKA Demir Hisar observed 3 December with a couple of activities. In the period between 20th of October till 20th of November 2022, a literature and an art competition were held for pupils from the primary and secondary schools in Demir Hisar. On 2.12.2022, PORAKA Demir Hisar organized an event in which representatives from the Local Self-Government, local institutions, civil organizations, and members of PORAKA Demir Hisar participated. As a token of appreciation, PORAKA Demir Hisar gave Acknowledgements to institutions and persons that have contributed to realizing the programme activities of the organisation. During the event, the best works from the literature and art competition were announced and then all of them were exhibited.

PORAKA Prilep realised different activities for observing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. On 30.11.2022 poetry reading was organized together with members from the Poet’s Club from Prilep, pupils from the Primary School “Dobre Jovanoski” and users from the Social Club in the Republic Centre – PORAKA in Bitola. While reading their poems, the poets were accompanied by the sounds of a guitar played by one of the users in the Day Centre. On 1.12.2022 the users in the Day Centre visited the Dental Practice “D-r Kalcoski” where they had a free dental check-up and were also introduced to the importance of dental care. The same day, the users also visited the cosmetics studio “Galaxy” in Prilep where they were introduced to the importance of daily skin care and were given a treatment of their choice. On 2.12.2022, the users of the Day Centre visited the biochemical laboratory Maxim. The personnel from the laboratory talked about their work, and after receiving the results of the blood test, everyone was given advice on further health care. On 5.12.2022, the Mayor of Municipality of Prilep, Borce Jovceski, together with representatives of the Local Self-Government and the director of Komunalec visited the Day Centre and were introduced with part of the everyday activities in this service. Also, the visit offered possibilities for discussing the needs and issues faced by persons with intellectual disability on local level. On 6.12.2022, the users of the Day Centre visited the laboratory of “Vodovod i kanalizacija” and had the opportunity to observe the chemical analysis of the drinking water.

PORAKA Delcevo also realized a couple of activities for observing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities together with other stakeholders on local level. An event was held on 2.12.2022 at the premises of the Day Centre for persons with disabilities together with pupils from the primary schools in Delcevo. The participants recited poems and performed a couple of traditional dances. On 3.12.2022, at the Home of Culture in Delcevo, and art colony was held, and the art works were presented. This activity was organized in cooperation with the Home of Culture in Delcevo and the primary schools.

PORAKA Strumica observed 3 December with various activities. The main activity was the campaign for improving the safety of people with disabilities in traffic. The activities were aimed at education and raising awareness for responsible participation in traffic. Firstly, the users of the Social Club prepared leaflets aimed for the drivers and other participants in the traffic, which were distributed on 3 December. Short video was also prepared that conveyed messages and advice for responsible behaviour of all traffic participants. The third activity was a joint event – bazaar held at the Home of Culture “Anton Panov” in Strumica, during which the Community Investment Platform www.cip.mk was presented. PORAKA Strumica presented itself with handicrafts made by its members. This was a public event with short cultural programme, and the handicrafts were on sale for a symbolic price. The money gathered from the sale will be used to purchase working materials for the Social Club. As a fourth activity, PORAKA Strumica held a creative workshop for the users of the Social Club and pupils from the Primary School “Nikola Vapcarov”.

PORAKA Bitola realised several activities to observe the International Day of Persons with Disability. In cooperation with the Secondary School “Taki Daskalo”, the users of the Social Club of the Republic Centre – PORAKA in Bitola and pupils from this school took part in a workshop for creating jewellery from textile. In cooperation with the voluntary firefighting organization Arhangel, a workshop was held, in which the users had the opportunity to hear about fire protection. The users also visited the fire station in Bitola and learned about the firefighting equipment. PORAKA Bitola organized an open day at the premises of the Social Club, and the participants had the opportunity to hear about the different activities realized at the Social Club and the ones that PORAKA Bitola had realized during the past year. Several users from the Social Club took part at the poetry reading, an event organized by PORAKA Prilep. On 5.12.2022, a sport event was organized at the Sports hall of the Primary School “Trifun Panovski”. Apart from members of PORAKA Bitola, most of the schools in Bitola also took part. The Mayor of Municipality of Bitola, Toni Konjanovski, visited the event and emphasized that Bitola as a municipality will continue with its support to persons with disability in order to provide better conditions for everyday living to these persons. Representatives from local institutions, parents of persons with intellectual disabilities and other associates of PORAKA Bitola also took part at these sports activities. At the end of the event, Acknowledgements were given to different stakeholders that have supported the activities of PORAKA Bitola in the past year. Additionally, creative workshops with the Primary Schools “Trifun Panovski” and “Todor Angelevski” were realized, followed by a Bazaar in Municipality of Novaci and a blood donation activity.

PORAKA Vinica realized different activities to observe 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. On 29.11.2022 PORAKA Vinica organized a visit to the Special Institute Demir Kapija and activities for gathering clothes, shoes and bed linen that will be given to the residents at the Special Institute Demir Kapija. On 2.12.2022, Akademija Progresiv and VINCINI, together with the TERAKOTA Museum organized a recreational event and an art exhibition with works from the Art Colony 2022.There were also sports activities during this event, in which the users of the Social Club of the Republic Centre – PORAKA in Vinica took part together with users of the Day Centre in Vinica and members of the Youth Organization of the Red Cross in Vinica. Together with the Youth organization of the Red Cross in Vinica, PORAKA Vinica held several creative workshops. Meeting with the Mayor of Municipality of Vinica, Mile Petkov, was held on 7.12.2022. During the meeting discussions were held about finding solution to the problems with working premises that PORAKA Vinica is facing.

PORAKA Makedonska Kamenica held several activities for observing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. One of them was a visit to the Chess Club “Kamenica Sasa” where the members of PORAKA Makedonska Kamenica had the opportunity to learn about the chess. Also, a visit to the ping pong club “Sasa” was organized for the members of the organization, in which they had a possibility to play ping pong and feel the competitive spirit. On 2.12.2022 PORAKA Makedonska Kamenica organized cultural event at the Culture Centre Romansa where the members of the organization showed their artistic talents. The Mayor of Municipality of Makedonska Kamenica, representatives of the Local Self-Government and representatives from the Mine Sasa were guests at the event.

PORAKA Veles observed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with a number of activities. These activities began in November at “Maca Ovcarova” School on the topic “The waste can be useful too”. The pupils learned about the recycling process and the reuse of waste. Several actions for gathering bottles, caps, old materials were conducted, which were followed by inclusive workshops for different handicrafts made from these materials and captured in a video. The aim of these activities that had started for observing 3 December with pupils with disabilities at “Maca Ovcarova” in Veles is for them to be expanded to other schools in Veles. By distributing and presenting the video materials in the schools, the aim is to include the pupils in activities for gathering waste materials and then making different handicrafts with them. These activities will take place throughout the whole year, and on 3 December 2023 an exhibition with all handicrafts is planned.

PORAKA Kriva Palanka observed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with several activities. In November, it held a competition at the primary schools in Kriva Palanka and Rankovce for art and literature works. On 2.12.2022 at the premises of the Day Centre for persons with disabilities in Kriva Palanka, it held an event discussing the importance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, as well as the activities realized by PORAKA Kriva Palanka in the past year. Additionally, the prizes for the best three art and literature works were awarded at the event.

PORAKA Tetovo in cooperation with the other stakeholders on local level realized several activities to observe the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. On 2.12.2022 at the Primary School “Lirija” a discussion was held regarding the importance of 3 December as an International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which was followed by performance prepared by Theatre Pinokio and an exhibition of art works from the pupils of the school. In the Primary School “A.S.-Kikis” the pupils prepared an exhibition of their art works and a cultural programme, on the same day. Additionally, the Day Centre for persons with disabilities organized an event for observing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in which the participants discussed the rights of persons with disabilities and their families.
