The money raised from the ticket sale were aimed for the Center for support of persons with Intellectual Disability – PORAKA Skopje. The concert was organized by high school pupils from the International School NOVA within the programme “Red Cross in Action – Promoting Human Values”. This is a national programme, that is being implemented in every municipal organization of Red Cross, and educates approximately 1200 young people annually, potential volunteers in the organization and 40 disseminators that work with the youth. As part of the programme, young people receive training regarding the Red Cross values, they learn about the culture as a system of values, the culture of dialog as a basic precondition for building intercultural society. Moreover, they receive practical knowledge for preparing small projects for the benefit of their community, projects aimed at supporting vulnerable citizens. 150 to 200 small projects are being prepared annually, which provide support for around 3000 people in our country, for some on a short term, while for other log-term assistance is provided.
The implementation of the programme “Red cross in Action – Promoting Human values” this year is provided with support of the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent. High School pupils from the International School NOVA participate in this programme, and have already realised several projects for supporting socially disadvantaged or marginalized groups in the society. The title of the concert stems from the song of the cult American band Sonic Youth, and the bends that performed at the concert are one of the most active in our country.
The band from Skopje “Funk Shui”, performed at the concert together with beneficiaries of the day centers of PORAKA Skopje. Before the concert, several rehearsals have been organized at the day centers, and the audience can witness the brilliant energy and the unique emotions they received from the persons with intellectual disability.
