The National Coordinative Body for Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities in the Republic of Macedonia, on 22nd of May 2014 in Skopje held the International Conference “Legislation on Employment for Persons with Disabilities and Practice”.
The Conference aimed to exchange experiences and good practices related to possibilities for employment of persons with disabilities, views of government officials, national experts and NGO sector from countries in the region. Experiences from Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina were relayed at the conference. It was organized and held as a part of the process for preparations of a new law for employment of persons with disabilities in the Republic of Macedonia.
Branimir Jovanovski, President of the National Coordinative Body for Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the Republic of Macedonia pointed out that this vulnerable category of citizens, even in healthy economic conditions, have difficulties with employment, finding and retaining job positions.
The State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, Muedin Kahvedzi, recalled the significant project for employing 300 persons with disabilities in public and state institutions, according to their type and level of disability, education and qualification.
– Within the Operating Plan of active measures and employment policies for 2014, we have foreseen a measure for subsidized employment of disabled persons, which would prompt the employment of this category, i.e. their integration in the labour market, said Kahvedzi. He also emphasized that the Government and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy shall continue to advance the employment of persons with disabilities by taking different measures and actions.
