The Center for Support of Persons with Intellectual Disability – PORAKA Skopje is established in 1977, as one of the local organizations of the Republic Center – PORAKA, with the aim to represent the rights and interest of persons with intellectual disability on territory of City of Skopje. Within its 35 years of active work in realization and advancement of human rights for persons with intellectual disability, PORAKA Skopje is a holder of many initiatives aimed towards creating conditions for dignified life of its members with intellectual disability and their families. Day center PORAKA Skopje, a social service for adolescents and adults with moderate and severe intellectual disability, successfully operates for 12 years now, as a part of PORAKA Skopje.
Numerous successfully realized programme activities, special programmes and projects, speak about the work of PORAKA Skopje as an important stakeholder in the process of equalization of opportunities for persons with intellectual disability. Recognizing this significant role, the City of Skopje decided to award PORAKA Skopje with “13 November Award” in the area of humanitarian activity and social protection.
Within the central commemoration of 13 November – Liberation day of Skopje, in the Hall of Macedonian Opera and Ballet, the Mayor of City of Skopje, Mr.Koce Trajanovski, presented the acknowledgements for the Award “13 November of City of Skopje” for 2012 and said: “The traditional annual award “13 November of City of Skopje” for special achievements and accomplishments in all spheres of life, represents a sign of acknowledgement of City of Skopje towards those, who with their efforts and achievements contributed for the city’s development, but also for the overall progress and affirmation of Republic of Macedonia, in and out of its borders.”
