“The Little Prince” got a new perspective, perhaps as it was meant by Exupéry himself. Just to feel and to behave as your heart leads you. Without masks, as only children know.
Performance by persons with intellectual disability
One sees clearly only with the heart.
What is essential is invisible to the eye…
The most famous sentence from “The Little Prince” of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, this time gets a different sense perhaps the most essential so far. The performance “The Little Prince”, in which all actors are persons with intellectual disability from the Day Center PORAKA, had its premiere on the little stage of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet.
Ten actors have offered an excellent performance and created an atmosphere so cute that one does not know whether the idea of the performance is to be a bit comical or not, whether the scene takes place according the script or, the actors improvise at the moment. If the little stage has radiated then it was honesty. Honesty, as we are not accustomed to seeing in other performances. The actors, who had an unprecedented sense of rhythm, have demonstrated that they can stand on same level with professional actors, that they can hold the attention to the end.
“The Little Prince” gota new perspective, perhaps as it was meant by Exupéry himself. Just to feel and to behave as your heart leads you. Without masks, as only children know.
The visual effects were also fantastic, for a moment they made the ambient turn into a starry sky.
Our actors Makedonka Ilievska and Zlatko Mitreski worked with the persons with intellectual disability and they have done an excellent job. In order to prepare a performance like this one, it takes a lot of patience and most of all a lot of love. When one sees this performance with the heart, not only the eyes, shall realize that the Little prince only has sense when it is played by people who are children in their souls, a soul as honest as the one of the main character.
