The training of the personnel in the day centers is one of the three parts within the regular programme activities of PORAKA for capacity building of its local organisations and the services that function within PORAKA’s network.
The second training in 2009 for the personnel in the day centers was focused on improvement of the person – centred approach in the creation of the individual working programme for the users of the day centers.
In the period 11th of April and 12th of April 2009, the Republic Center for support of persons with intellectual disability – PORAKA organised the second workshop for the professionals workinf in the day centers managed by the Republic Center – PORAKA. Dr.Vasilka Dimoska, Program Manager in the Republic Center – PORAKA, and Vlado Krstovski, Program Assistant in the Republic Center – PORAKA, conducted the workshop. It was held in the premises of the day center – PORAKA Skopje.
The workshop was focused on improvement of the person – centred approach in the creation of the individual working programme for the users of the day centers. Also, the internal regulatory procedures regarding the organizational structure of these social services were discussed.
The first part of the workshop gave an insight on the existing models of individual planning and the instruments that are used for effective individual approach in the work of the services. The instruments that are used in the day centers of PORAKA were elaborated. Also, the discussion was focused on the methods of implementation in particular day centers, in order to ensure equal and unified practice in all day centers.
The presentations gave an introduction to the practical part of the workshop, where each of the participants was preparing an individual plan for one user.
During the workshop, participants had an opportunity to discussed the effect of the quality standards on the overall social service provision, especially for the day centers. The person – centered planning is one of the basic criteria in all quality systems for social services. Therefore, it is of great importance for PORAKA to create a system that will ensure high quality work, and accomplishment of the person – centered approach in all social services of PORAKA.
