The Mayor of Municipality of Shtip, Blagoj Bocvarski, the Director of the Primary School, Trajce Dimov and the President of the Republic Centre for Support of Persons with Intellectual Disability – PORAKA signed Memorandum of Cooperation on 31.1.2019, and 180 m2 of space at the Primary School “Goce Delcev” is given for opening a Day Centre for persons with intellectual disability over 18 years of age.
The Mayor of Municipality of Shtip, Blagoj Bocvarski, at the Press-Conference, announced that the Municipality is providing part of the space in the Primary School “Goce Delcev” where this centre will be opened, and will be reconstructed and equipped with the help of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. This shows that the Municipality is committed to creating conditions for greater integration of this group of citizens.
“The space is around 180 square meters at the Primary School “Goce Delcev”. After signing the Memorandum, adaptation and reconstruction will begin, and therefore used for the needs of persons with intellectual disability over 18 years of age” – said Bocvarski.
The Director of the Primary School “Goce Delcev”, Trajce Dimov, says that this is good joint initiative.
“By adapting this space, I believe it will become one of the best premises aimed for persons with intellectual disability over 18 years of age. Moreover, this school is including children with disabilities in the regular classes”, says Dimov.
Representatives from the Centre for Support of Persons with Intellectual Disability – PORAKA Stip note that the parents are most satisfied with realization of this type of Centre. For years they have been asking the Local Self-Government to open such a Centre because they are left to manage on their own regarding the day care and developing the abilities of their children. Therefore, one of the parents usually does not go to work and says at home with their child.
The signed Memorandum of Cooperation formalizes the cooperation between the Municipality of Shtip, the Primary School “Goce Delcev” and the Republic Centre for Support of persons with Intellectual Disability – PORAKA, based on a platform of mutual trust and understanding that will cover a range of activities that are of interest and benefit for all, in order to establish a social service – Day Centre for persons with intellectual disability over 18 years of age.
